About Nikko

I was born in Seattle Washington but have been lucky to live all over the Pacific Northwest. Being a kid in Montana and learning to ski at a young age, I’ve always felt most alive being outside and being active. Moving to Portland as a teenager exposed me to the possibilities that are out there in a larger world, and only served to increase my curiosity to explore it. I left for the country for the first time at 17 and spent 2 weeks travelling through Spain and Morocco. This trip gave me a taste for what international travel can do for a person.

I went to college in the magical Redwood Forests of Humboldt County, CA. Graduating with a B.A. in Environmental Studies with a minor in Philosophy I discovered my love and aptitude for writing. Even more so than writing, what I really enjoyed about my college experience was the opportunity to think about and discuss complex ideas with other people who were equally as thoughtful and interested in these topics. Since graduation this is an aspect of life I have been missing, and one of the primary things I am really looking forward to embracing as I get back into writing.

Since graduation I’ve lived in Portland Oregon, Aspen Colorado, and now Bozeman Montana. These moves were interspersed with several international trips, including 7 months traveling solo through Europe and Morocco. My experiences travelling and pursuing a full life in the mountains have poised me to share unique perspectives and stories with readers.
